I feel like the queen mother isn’t going to let things be since she holds so much power I think she’ll meddle. Definitely here for a spying situation and would be excited to see what new info they learn - how did the moms get together, what’s going on with the local coven, bring on the birds or other magical animals maybe as the queen mothers tactic doing some spying on Selene herself.
Great point about the queen mother. I feel like you're right, she absolutely has to meddle and wouldn't just let things be. This also makes me think maybe she made Selene leave Arielle in the first place for reasons more than just "you need to come be Queen". I always thought Arielle would be fully hum drum, but maybe there's something magical about her Selene didn't know. Or she's like a conduit or something.
Spying is great for the next. I love the idea that they're trying to hide from Arielle that they're in town but she already saw them and it's hard to hide in a small town, especially when you have a whole army that came up with you. I think the excuse for them would be she's from a rich, famous, and powerful family – like the Kennedys or Rockefeller's – daughter in the eyes of the rest of the world.
And yes, this is totally where we gotta bring in the birds and magical animals!
